Interested in biking with kids? Don’t know where to start, or what options might be best for your family? Curious about Massachusetts state laws, and the laws of common sense? Bicycle Belle is hosing a workshop to introduce the options and alternatives that have worked for other local families. 11-AM to 12 noon at the shop, 368 Beacon St, Somerville MA.
While we definitely support family cycling, since the Baby Belle is only 4 months old, we don’t have any practical experience (yet) . Much of what we carry and the advice we give has been shaped by conversations with our three panelists:
Megan Ramey, founder of Bikeabout and all around bike advocate rides a Workcycles FR8 with her daughter on the child saddle.
Brian Postlewaite is an engineer and dad to two boys. He rides a Bullit (aka the fast bakfiets!) and a vintage Raleigh with a Yepp seat.
Nathan Vierling-Claassen is a neuroscientist who posts at the blog “Car Free with Kids” and shares a Workcycles Bakfiets and an Xtracycle conversion with his wife Angela for carrying their two kids.
Each will give a brief description of their family cycling experience and take questions from the audience about the pros and cons of the various options.
