We were founded on the idea that bicycles are the best way to get around the city

That’s why we sell comfortable bicycles that handily meet the challenges of everyday life.

There are many recreational bike shops out there, but most sell bikes that aren’t suitable for short urban trips or carrying cargo. We sell city bicycles that are set up for everyday life–with chainguards and fenders to keep your clothes clean, racks to carry your stuff, lights for showing you the way, and kickstands for when you stop to smell the roses.

We are Boston’s family bicycling experts, because we live by bike, and are passionate about pairing families with the perfect solutions for their situation.  We are patient and friendly without the attitude toward beginners that some shops have. We provide information and real life experience to help people find the right thing for them.   People come to us from all over the Northeast because of the specialized bikes we carry as well as on recommendation from other families.

We strive to be welcoming to everyone. Whether you haven’t ridden a bike for 20 years, (or ever) and are tired of walking to the store, or you’re a randonneur looking for a way to carry your kids to school, we can help you explore the options in a friendly, pressure free environment.

We are experts in family bicycling, stocking a wide variety of cargo bikes and with experience fitting child seats to almost any kind of bike out there.  We also carry cargo bicycles perfectly adapted for carrying people, or more than just a pannier load.

We stock a variety of accessories to make bicycling more comfortable and convenient, and offer superior service for people who need their bikes to be reliable transportation.

Carice Reddien, founder

Carice Reddien - Bicycle Belle Boston

Carice Reddien has been a transportation cyclist since the age of 16 when she decided it was too dorky to ride the school bus. Living in Italy while training to be an architect, she learned that biking in heels and a dress was easy with the right bike.  In Boston, she became involved in bicycle advocacy, and came to feel that there was a need for a local shop that focused on bikes as a tool for enabling people’s lives.  She bikes year round with her three young children because it’s almost always easier than driving.

We opened our doors in the summer of 2013 and are excited to keep pedaling forward. Come visit us in person!
